More Than a Quilt Shop

At Palmetto Stitches & Quilts, we love beautiful fabric, great sewing machines, perfectly finished quilts, and all the fun things that go along with creating something with your own two hands.

But our story has always been about something more.

It’s about people, friendship, creativity, and finding a place where you belong.

Our story began in 2017, when Kelly Warnock walked into a little quilt and gift shop in Camden called Emmie’s. Kelly had grown up sewing, knitting, and doing needlepoint, but quilting was something new.

And at that particular moment in her life, she needed something new.

Just a few months earlier, Kelly and her husband, Todd, had experienced the unimaginable loss of their son, Robert. In the months that followed, Kelly found herself looking for a place to connect, create, and simply spend time with other people.

She found it around a quilting table.

Kelly has often described that little shop as “a place of healing.” She came in to learn how to quilt, but what she found was a community of new friends who welcomed her, taught her, laughed with her, and gave her a place to belong during one of the hardest seasons of her life.

Before long, Kelly wasn’t just learning. She was helping others. Then she was teaching classes. And somewhere along the way, quilting became much more than a hobby.

In December 2019, Kelly and Todd purchased the shop, gave it a new name, and Palmetto Stitches & Quilts was born.

A Family Business With a Simple Goal

Kelly brought her love of sewing and quilting—and her heart for helping people—to the shop. Todd brought his background in business and technology, helping expand the store’s online presence, e-commerce, and operations.

Their son, William, brought his own creativity to the family business as well, helping redesign the store and even hand-building some of its displays.

Together, the family had a pretty simple idea:

Keep what makes a local quilt shop special, and make everything else even better.

That meant more fabric. More classes. More services. More room to create. And above all, the kind of customer service that makes you want to come back—not just because you need something, but because you enjoy being here.

Today, we offer a huge selection of fabrics, patterns, kits, pre-cuts, notions and quilting supplies from the major vendors you know and love. We also offer professional long-arm quilting, sewing machine cleaning and repair for all major brands, and classes for everyone from the absolute beginner to the seasoned quilter.

If you’re brand new, we’ll happily hold your hand through your first project.

If you’ve been quilting for 40 years, pull up a chair. We might know a trick you haven’t tried—and we’re pretty sure you know a few you can teach us, too.

Room to Spread Our Wings

By late 2022, we had a wonderful problem: we were running out of room.

Our classes were growing. Our fabric selection was growing. We wanted to add more products and services, and there simply wasn’t enough space to do everything we dreamed of doing.

So we started looking for a new home.

We found it just around the corner in Camden’s historic Blake & Ford building.

With more than 4,500 square feet—about three times the size of our previous location—we finally had room to spread our wings. More fabric, more classroom space, more services, more inspiration, and plenty of room for what comes next.

But even as the shop has grown, the most important things haven’t changed.

Come On In. You Belong Here.

We want Palmetto Stitches & Quilts to be the kind of place Kelly discovered all those years ago.

A place where people can walk through the door and find more than what they came in looking for.

Come shop. Take a class. Ask for help. Bring us the project that has you completely stumped. Sit down and sew awhile. Meet somebody new. Laugh a little. Learn something. Teach somebody else something.

Because we learned a long time ago that sometimes what happens around the quilting table is every bit as important as the quilt that comes off of it.

We know you have plenty of choices about where to spend your time and your money, and we never take it for granted when you choose us. Our promise is simple: we’ll work hard to give you knowledgeable help, exceptional service, quality products, and a place where you’re always glad you stopped by.

So if you’re in historic Camden, South Carolina, come see us.

There’s plenty of fabric to look through, probably a project or two to talk about, and there’s always room for one more around our quilting table.

Welcome to Palmetto Stitches & Quilts. We’re glad you’re here.

Happy Quilting!
