When Kelly and I started Palmetto Stitches and Quilts in January, we wanted the shop to be "different." We wanted it to be more than just a fabric and quilting shop. We wanted it to be a place that was fun to visit, with people working here that would become part of our "family" and that really enjoyed sewing and quilting, and with products that people wanted to buy (and that they could buy at fair prices!) We wanted to offer small classes that were tailored to what people wanted, and we wanted to make an impact in our community. That was our goal then, and it's still our goal today!
As part of our "giving back", we've partnered with Moda in support of their "Stitch Pink" effort. Moda Fabrics has been touched by breast cancer, and - while we remind everyone of the importance of mammograms and early detection, and educated ourselves regarding risk factors - we get to do a little bit of stitching together! You can read more about the "Stitch Pink" project here
While the national "Moda focus" is on breast cancer, and we're happy to support that effort, we're expanding our project a little bit in support of ALL cancer patients and survivors. The impact of cancer on our small shop is significant, and we'll be sharing more as the month unfolds on how we plan to support both the Stitch Pink efforts and other local efforts, too. Stay tuned!Starting October 1st, we'll be joining thousands of other quilters in a "stich-a-long" making a quilt - one block a day. We'll be releasing the block patterns each day in coordination with Moda, and they'll be available on our website at the Stitch Pink 2020 section below.
Whether you're affected by cancer personally, know someone who is, or just want to support the efforts, we encourage you to call or come by, meet our friendly staff, browse our wide selection of products, have fun, hang out, take some classes, be inspired, and find out why people keep coming back to Palmetto Stitches and Quilts!
